In honor of the 45th anniversary of JSC “Vostochny Port” (the largest Russian specialized terminal with high-tech transshipment of coal and a member of the coal port holding “Managing Port Company, LLC”) one of the new geysers in Kamchatka was named “Vostochny-45.”

The name was given to the geyser with the coordinates 160.13621-e.l. 54.43767 n.l., located in the Valley of Geysers of the Kronotsky State Natural Biosphere Reserve. Alexander Zhukov, the Deputy Head of the Financial Department of “Managing Port Company,” solemnly presented the pertaining Certificate in Vrangel to the Managing Director of JSC “Vostochny Port” - Vadim Baibak.

“Managing Port Company, LLC” acquired the right to name a geyser at the charity auction of the Ministry for Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation within the framework of the 4th Eastern Economic Forum in 2018. The funds raised at the auction were directed to support projects on the protection of the endangered and rare animal species of the Russian Far East.

“The participation in programs supporting the biological diversity of nature in Russia is a very rewarding mission, which corresponds to the key priority of the activity of LLC MPC in the implementation of the best available technologies for the operation of stevedoring companies. Ensuring environmental safety at all stages of production from unloading wagons with coal to loading it onto ships is the main requirement in the work of the terminals of the holding. We are pleased to make such a unique “environmental” gift to JSC “Vostochny Port” as assigning the name “Vostochny-45” to the geyser in celebration of the terminal's 45th anniversary. And this will be also a contribution to the protection of rare and endangered animal species in our country,” commented Irina Olkhovskaya, the Deputy General Director of “Managing Port Company,” on the subject of presenting the Certificate.

JSC “Vostochny Port” is the first coal terminal of the Far East to receive a certificate of compliance with the requirements of the international standard ISO 14001: 2015 “Environmental Management Systems.” In recent years, the terminal has invested 1.4 billion rubles in the modernization of wastewater treatment plants and wind protection systems, the replenishment of marine bio-resources and other environmental protection measures. Currently, the company is implementing a comprehensive environmental program for the transition to enclosed technologies for coal transshipment. The stipulated investment in the program is exceeding 1.5 billion rubles. In 2019, JSC “Vostochny Port” shall conduct the now traditional eco-marathon for the fifth time.

The Governmental Institution “Kronotsky State Natural Biosphere Reserve” (FSI “Kronotsky Reserve”) is one of the oldest reserves in Russia, established on November 1, 1934 in the eastern part of the Kamchatka Peninsula. Since 1985, the reserve has been included in the international network of biosphere reserves. In 1996, a unique natural area was included in the list of World Natural Heritage Sites by UNESCO. There are 25 volcanoes (eight of them are active ones) on the territory of the Kronotsky Reserve, as well as the legendary Valley of Geysers that is the only geyser field in Eurasia, one of the five largest geyser fields in the world. On a small section of the canyon of the mountain river Geyzernaya, one can observe all known forms of hydrothermal activity: thermal lakes, pulsating hot springs, steam-gas jets, sulfur-mud and water pools and, of course, geysers - boiling springs periodically ejecting steam-water mixture from a mud & gas griffins. There are over 50 such geysers in the Valley.
