JSC “Vostochny Port” shipped more than 22 million tons of coal in 11 months of the year 2018

JSC “Vostochny Port,” the largest Russian specialized port with high-tech coal transshipment and a member of the coal port holding “Managing Port Company,” shipped 22.3 million tons of premium quality coal for export between January and November. This is a 5.8% (1.2 million tons) increase as compared to the similar period of 2017 (21.1 million tons).
Since the beginning of this year, the number of discharged gondola cars exceeded 298k units, against 290.2 k gondolas shipped between January and November 2017 (a 2.7% increase). The share of innovative high capacity gondola cars increased by 16 percent points as compared to the similar period of the previous year, from 61% (176 k) to 77% (228 k). In November 2018, the company handled 27.1 k gondola cars.
The stevedoring company handled 525 bulkers of various cargo capacities at its berths, including 174 (33%) vessels of the panamax type and 53 (10%) capsize bulkers. For comparison, between January and November 2017, 42 (9%) vessels that had berthed in the port for loading were the capsize-type bulkers.
Since the beginning of 2018, coal has been shipped to South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, China, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore. South Korea is leading in terms of imports with a share of 33%.
